Hey how's it going everybody? I'm new here I didn't even know this forum existed. What a pleasant surprise..lol...anyways, this is what I'm thinking. I have a 2007-2008 MIM Standard and I'm debating removing the switch completely. Not to install a 4 or 5 way but completely remove it. Also do it similar to the J5 signature and make the Master Volume and Tone controls to each be a single volume control. One for each PUP for custom blending. I was wondering what you're thoughts were on this.

Sounds like a sweet idea man, hope you're good at wiring or know a good tech guy.

original idea....I like the sound of it, though; it would be interesting to hear how it comes out. Do you just never use the tone control? If not it sounds like it could be perfect for you. If so, though, why not just put a third pot where the switch would sit and keep the tone where it is? Just brain storming, here....I would like to hear it when you finish....maybe you could send us an audiofile when its done?

I like that idea!

I have always found the Tele switch hard too work (too close to the volume control).

Can you find a control plate that doesn't have the switch slot/mounting holes cut into it?

you can always get a control plate custom routed; I'd imagine that wouldn't be TOO much money

Sounds great! really wouldn't be hard, and like popsbpython said, you can easily get a custom control plate from warmoth or somewhere else. You've inspired me...now I want to make one like that.... haha.

Why give up versatility? Are you sure you're going to be playing the same music two years from now?

I really dont think it would be giving up versatility. Being able to custom blend your sounds would make it more versatile if you ask me.

Well there's a few options I have as far as control plate goes. I could:

A) I got the part number for the J5 signature tele control plate, so I could special order it

B) I could have one custom made

C) I could by a blank plate a cut drill it out myself

All depends on how much the J5 plate costs.
