Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Baja or a Highway One tele, I think that - maybe after a while - i'm gonna replace the neck pick up by a humbucker (like the 52 hot rod) Is it easy to do or does the luthier have to drill bigger holes in the body? Also anybody any suggestion about a good humbucker (fender wide range, seymour duncan, gibson burstbuckers, R490,.....)?

If the Baja body is routed for a humbucker, it will be easy. If its not routed for a humbucker, it will require some work, and unless you are familiar with routers/power tools and woodworking/carpentry, or have been working on guitars for awhile, you are probably better off having it done professionally.

...or, you could always order a custom body from Warmoth.com and get exactly what you want. [/url]

That would work too, it just depends what people are looking to do. For example, some people like to, and have the time to, cook their own food how they like it, while others just prefer, or maybe don't have the time, ingredients, experience, and/or can afford it, and just get something thats already been made and alter it to their personal tastes...

I've got an 2005 MIM Standard Tele that I'm going to mod this way. Mine is already routed for a humbucker and I just happen to have a Burstbucker pro that I took out of another guitar recently

The Baja body has to be routed for a humbucker.
The Seymour Duncan Mini Humbucker is a good option.
Some great reviews on the Fender Vintage Hotrod '52 Telacaster
which comes with a SD minibucker.

one more option would be to use a stacked humbucker. Seymour and Dimarzio both make some different models. If you do decide to do it yourself. (it's not to tough) I would suggest that you get your pickguard first so you can mark out the postion of the pickup before you start routing.

Good Luck and Happy Pickin"

Check out a Dimarzio Dual Sound for a standard size humbucker. It means adding a toggle switch I put one in the neck of a strat with a Dimarzio b-1 tele in the bridge and a sds-1 in the middle. Killer guitar wished I'd kept it.
