Hi All,
Im about ready to pull the trigger on the Baja... Have played the others, just but think the Baja is the better choice... Ive read the posts, and all seems great, but are there any negatives on this model? Im a Strat player, and a Loyal Fender customer. So just wondering if any have had a bad experience with this guitar?

Thanks for the help

Bill

Negatives? There's something new.

Well, I really dislike the "soft V" shape neck. It feels awkwardly U shaped to me. And I am not a huge fan of the gloss polyurathane neck finish. I've tried to like my Baja over the year I've had it to no avail. The neck is a such a downer.
Also, if you are a strat guy, the 3 barrell saddles are going to drive you crazy.

The necks nowhere near a soft V is it. The intonation drove me mental. I had to get compensated saddles. I have no gripe with the polyurethane finish of the neck, its durable to the point of indestructable, just what you need on a maple neck to keep it looking clean.
The neckshape is strange but i found it pleasant. Particularly for banging out open chords. I always try before i buy, i suggest you do the same on the baja. Its not everybodys cup of tea.

Play a Tele seated and it's gonna poke you in the ribs. That's my only "gripe" and it's not really a gripe, just a fact.

Personally i like this neck and the thin finish.
I have no problems with the 3 brass saddles.
For accurate intonation get the compensated saddles.
It's such a great guitar to look at and to play.
The 4-way switch and S-1 switch make it very versatile.
Highly recommendable.

My sentiments exactly. Like i said though, you'd be a fool to buy without trying it out.

I have a Baja Tele ( and a Strat ) and love both equally. To my ears,
the Strat has a " fuller " sound and you can get many different tones out of it. It also feels perfect, has great balance to it and everything is within easy reach. The Tele to me has a more un- sophisticated sound which can be real nasty . I would say the neck on the Tele is a little more to my liking ... but just a very little. Make sure you check out the neck - some of the Mexican Fenders leave something to be desired - ends of frets sticking out for example.

Hey all,
Thanks for the candid input. I have played the baja, as well as the other teles. I guess your right, the soft v neck is different... Not like my Clapton Strat. After hearing you all, I think I will "Look" a little longer... Ill try them all again before I submit to my GAS :D

I'm still hesitating between the Baja and the Highway one, I think you will get used to the (not THAT much!) thicker neck, but try the highway one, to me I even prefer the highway One above the US standard, and I believe I'm not the only one.... Good luck!

HI:

Go for the Baja. I love mine, I've got a Hwy1 and it's OK but my bandmate plays it more than I do, so it gets played at least
