Do Fender make a bridge tailpiece and pickguard for the Tele which will take Strat pickups? If not, which is the best pickup combination to make the Tele sound like a Strat. Stupid I know, I should buy a Strat. Well I have one but I like the Tele much better as a guitar. we play mainly Shadows stuff, I play rythym, any suggestions?

i have the nashville telcaster with a jb jr middle pickup and it sounds like a beefed up start in the middle postion, but in the bridge and neck it sounds like a classic tele. a great combonation with the noiseless pups and jb jr :o

Hey Chris,

I built the guitar you are describing. As above I used Tele PUs in the neck and bridge (vintage noisless) and a VN strat PU in the middle. This required routing the body and pickguard for the strat middle PU. The middle PU is wired in with a micro toggle switch mounted between the volume and tone controls. This way I have all the standard Tele sounds and can ad the middle PU to any of them. I can't run the middle PU alone but that is a sound a never seem to use anyway. You could also use a fiveway switch (Strat) and get all the Strat stlye sounds. You could ad a toggle switch to add the neck to the bridge PU and then have all the Strat and Tele Sounds. I totally enjoy the vintage noiseless pickups. Plenty of output and great tone with much less noise.
