One more thing to check, make sure the nut on the top side of the tuner isn't loose. That could make weird noise and make you think you have nut issues, and I guess it is a nut issue, just a different nut

Okay, do I check this without strings on?

I have now checked the truss rod - it's not loose nor "stuck". I have also checked the string action - it's correct according to Fender specs.

I've now had all the tuning machines off, all the saddles off. Took the nut loose as well. Cleaned and tightened everything, swapped tuning machine 2 and 3, and put on a new set of strings. The overtone is a bit reduced, but still there. I used almost the entire G-string this time to get a bigger angle from the nut and down toward the tuning machine.

The F chord is still very much out of tune, but the overtone is a little bit less annoying.

Argh - LOL.

Yeah, I've more or less come to that conclusion too. There's supposedly an englishman here in Norway that's an amazing guitar technician, so I'll give him a call over the weekend.

You can look around and see who may have a PLEK system that will tell them what the problem is and the fix. Problem is the cost.

Do you think I should replace the nut with a new one? How about the saddle(s)? Use thicker strings maybe? Can you tell that I'm getting desperate?

Oh, one thing I've forgot to check is this micro-tilt screw. I'll check the next time at the studio.

Try going to a 10-46 set and get one with a wound G string. I know d'Addarrio makes a set. I'll bet the problem goes away. It's a mechanical problem in that the string tension on a G isn't really optimum and it causes problems. I don't have the link here at work or I'd send a couple of pages on why this happens.
