I've decided to use my recent Squier Affinity Tele (previous owner modified) acquisition as a basis for a partscaster project. I've ordered a Standard Tele body (Alder) from Warmouth Direct, and will use the neck and several hardware pieces from the Squier. When placing my order, I asked for a vintage style 6-hole (Strat) tremolo route, standard Tele control cavity, and no pickup routing. Perhaps by the time the body arrives, I'll have decided what pickups I want to use, but I'm currently trying to decide between Seymour Duncan Lipsticks, Fender Jaguar or Fender Jazzmaster. I'll likely put a 5-way switch in the control plate, so I can have series, parallel and out-of-phase choices with both pickups, especially if I go with Jag or Jazz pickups.

After I complete this one, I'll start ordering parts toward my 12-string "Telecaster Deluxe," that will be as close to a Telecaster Deluxe reproduction as I can get, with the exception of 12-strings instead of 6. At this point, my G.A.S. is taking a decidedly different turn, in that "if Fender don't make it that way, I will." :)

Matt

Sounds like a cool project. It might be neat to throw a couple of P-90s on a Tele body. What headstock will you use for the 12 string?

Fun stuff dude. Start a "Project Tele" thread and post pics as it progresses. I think that would be alot of fun to watch.

When I do the 12-string "Telecaster Deluxe," I'm planning to use both a Warmouth body and neck. Warmouth's 12-string headstock design is similar to what's on the Stratocaster XII, but without the "fancy" curve at the top, like on the Fender.

Dig it!

Looking at the bridge on that Strat gives me shivers. Setting the action and intonation on that thing would really require some patience.

You could really test your skills and do a combination Tele/Strat double neck!

Join two bodies and let her rip!

YAAAAAY for creativity
