What are the recommended pickup height settings for the neck and bridge pickups? I'm trying to tweak mine for a bit more power/brightness.

1/8 on the bass side and 3/32 on the treble side when pushing the string down at the last fret. If you get the pick up to close to the strings you will get harmonic overtones that you don't want because the magnetic field being to close to the string will not let the string vibrate in an eliptical motion.

I like most pickups far away from the strings. Let the amp give you volume and such. I recently saw a Stevie Ray Vaughn magazine cover shot and the pickups in his strat were just barely over the level of the pickguard.

This is a cool tidbit from an article I read:

Close to the strings will give you these kinds of tones: loud, punchy, slightly compressed, percussive, focused, brighter and are best for these applications: lead playing or heavy drive/distortion sounds with as little noise as possible
Further from the strings will give you these kinds of tones: smoother, warmer, more character, more dynamic range, "woodier" tone, better balance and are best for these applications: cleaner sounds with more complexity and more dynamic music styles
