All my guitars are American made. Life is too short to play cheap guitars! :D

The new Fender MIM Teles are gig-worthy professional instruments.

For me, the Highway Teles are not really worth it with at least previously better MIM reissue options available.

The 52 Reissue (American made) is still the best value if that's what you are looking for and like vintage sound and frets.

There are still people who for whatever reason want to change pickups on either the MIM Standards or the MIA Standards...though IMO that is not necessary in either case.

The new MIM Teles are better than the American Standard Teles out there in 1998...supposedly after improvements. Those American made guitars while featuring better necks and finishes were clangy Teles that traded wimpiness for smoothness and warim treble (a vintage characteristic).

What gets neglected in the upgardes orf all Teles MIM's and MIA is the given acoustic quality of a particular guitar.

Ive got an American G&L Legacy and I love it but I'll be honest, I probably play my MIM Tele with my custom shop 54' nocaster pickups. It's nothing against the GL (which I love and do play) but if someone handed me the tele and didn't tell me it was MIM I don't really think I would be able to tell.

Guitars are like cigars, the one you like best is the one for you whether it's a cuban or a swisher sweet, ha ha.

I own a MIA tele from 2003 but before I bought it I tried a MIM tele from a friend and I didn't like the neck feel & finish. The MIM are not grounded, if you care for this... I think there are no miracles and normally you get what you pay. So if you pay 400$ you're getting something valued 400$. For some reason the MIM's are cheaper and that reason isn't the 'made in Mexico' thingy for sure.

Fender had to find a way to reach out costumers w/ low budget and it did 'cause there isn't such a great guitar for this price range as the fender... But it cutted on material quality. The electronics on MIM's are really cheap stuff mostly low quality metals as opposed to the more refined American ones.. So you get what you pay.. ditto :)

Hey kasumi1488 - I've got something to clean your colon out with that I'd be happy to share with you... it's the neck off an old Squier buried about as far up your arse as I could stick it. Get the hell out of here Troll.

i went for the american...living in england though it was a long wait until i acutally got the guitar, got it last week, ordered it at the end of may :P....i played a mexican tele, and the american in a local shop....being me, at the end of the day i wanted the one that i knew was best quiality etc, so pushed the price and went for the american....im so pleased with it....go for the american anyday, u feel better playing it cos its american :D

I go for the American guitars myself. It's just a matter of what makes ME happiest. THE MIM's play fine. But are they the best Fender I can afford? No they are not. So I buy the American made instruments. I may not have much, but what I have is top notch.

(I don't drink cheap beer or cheap whiskey either)

I'm with you, I might not have alot but what I have is top notch, American telecasters, strats and knob creek......aaaahhhhh. It really doesn't get much better than that.
