Agreed. I sat down on Saturday and played a MIM, Highway 1, and American Deluxe. To me the Deluxe just felt and played better - so I went with that.

i have played the american deluxe and i own a few 2007 highway ones
personaly i prefer the highway ones not only is the feel on
the highway one Brilliant so is the tone versatility the highway one
gives you. this is something the american deluxe or american standards
dont do.

also lets not forget that the MIM's of the past
3 years do match the craftmanship of alot of MIA's

I've got a Highway One Tele and it is (IMO) the best "bang for the buck" value in the Fender lineup.

Here are a couple of examples which show why a MIA tele costs more than a MIM one.

They sure are. How does it play/sound? My '04 MIA Tele gets played more than the other guitars in my collection. I just love it!

This is a 2008 American Standard. It sounds and plays so well, that I use one when I play live now. :D

I have a LOT of Teles (and other guitars for that matter) to choose from, so I guess that means it's pretty damn good! 8)

My MIA Tele Deluxe is the same Ajay, only with a maple neck. I had gone to buy a 52 RI in Butterscotch , but when I took the deluxe in my arms and plugged her in I was sold. An absolutely stunning piece of craftmanship, one of my fav guitars.
