On paper, it looks like you'd like it, but perhaps you need to play one to know if you should get one...

Hello David,

The root tele is a bit unique as it is
sporting a mohogany body. My favorite
is the white as it has a ebony fretboard.
Both black and white have flat paint while
i can dig it some can't.

Cheers.

I think the Jim Root Tele is awesome. I could have bought
a black one at Guitar Center but wanted the white one. So,
I ordered one.......that was in MAY 2008! I'm still waiting.
Fender says mine hasn't even been manufactured yet!
Order now, so you can have one next year.......

I purchased the JR telecaster (Maple neck version) back in the middle of February for layaway at a local guitar shop and had it in by April. At the time it was going for $899.99. It seems the demand has ramped up during the year but Fender bumped it up to $950.00 in April. Just curious as to why they did it when the demand increased. I am assuming since it is an unsual stock guitar with various components not typically on a fender that this may have cause a price increase to support the demand.

Demand increases, so companies take those oppurtunities to increase the price to increase profits. Also, any product that is a(n) "Signature," "Artist", or "Custom" model will have a higher price, even if its just essentially the same as some other product they may offer.
