I have an older Peavey TKO75 amp without an onboard reverb. I don't have the budget for a new amp right now and wanted to start playing my electric guitar through it - are there any decent external reverb effects that anyone has used and/or can recommend? I'd like to stay under $150 if possible and of course the less expensive the better. (If it matters like to play blues and I have a Fender Telecaster).

The Danelectro spring king is the only inexpensive real spring reverb that I know of (it also incorporates a subtle digital slapback)

I know that the ludicrously cool Sune Rose Wagner from the Ravonettes uses one on his live rig (And I'm pretty sure that you can hear it all over the Lust Lust Lust album) Very surfy!!!

There are mixed reviews on harmony central (but isn't there always!)

I've just noticed - there's a boss Digital Reverb there too...I've not had much experience with Digi reverbs.

The Little Lanilei Reverb Pedal consists of an Accutronics(TM) 8" (3) spring reverb tank with a driver stage forcing all that beautiful guitar tone from your guitar down through the springs. The blend knob controls the mix from wet to clean and the gain knob controls the amount of reverb. What does it sound like? Very vintage reverb!

You'll find any number of reverb pedals that will do the job. Some are well under your price limit. If you can get to a music store, check them out.

I don't know of any pedal reverbs that aren't digital. The opposite of digital is analog. For reverb that means you would have to have a true reverb tank with either springs or metal plates. That won't fit in a pedal. I could be wrong about this but I don't think so. :)

A post up above says that there is a new pedal available with a spring tank in it. But it's $200 retail.

As I said above - the Dano Spring King has springs in it.

List is $200. Not priced like most Danelectro stuff. :)

Aaahhhh, I see! (Sorry - it gets confudling, the whole US dollar English pounds thing!)

That said you're quite right soggy crow, only digiverbs are in the price range.

Behringer do one for about the cost of a hamburger (US currency!)

Electro Harmonix Holy Grail seems like a good pedal:

I agree with Ian, the DigiTech Digiverb is awesome for the sound & value!

It's the best reverb pedal i've tried and i've owned like 10 or more no joke. Believe it or not, the digiverb outperformed the standalone fender reverb unit, but that is just more of my style.

Check the digiverb out, you can practically steal them on the used market now. I have one on my pedal board as we speak...

I've got a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb pedal and I think the reverb and the vibrato on it are both great. I also have a 65 reissue Deluxe Reverb amp (too heavy for an old guy to carry around). I won't say they sound just alike but to my ear, they are very close. Guitar center has them for $149 but I got mine for $80 at thier last big sale (Labor Day I think). Musicians Friend also has them for $149. Go on in and try it.

I thought I needed reverb until the reverb in my amp went out a couple years ago. I never replaced it, and haven't really missed it since that happened, as I discovered depending on how loud you play, you don't really need it 8) and this was on the amp that I play in a band with, so the thing is already pretty loud, and it makes reverb on its own due to volume
