I just got my baja yesterday, what a wonderfull tele it is. Im a longtime strat fan and havent owned a tele guitar in close to 20 years, that being a very nice tokai breezysound. Anyway heres my question. The neck of the baja is said to be a soft V contour, i compared it to my strat 57 hotrod which is also said to be a soft V. Their nothing alike, the baja seems a lot less pronounced more like a U. Do tele's usualy have chubbier necks than strats, or is this the stock mexican soft V, or did i get a unusual neck?

'50s Strat's and tele's have more chubbier necks then the '60s ones.
I like the chubby neck on my Baja Tele.

Thankyou Lostindesert.
I too like my baja neck, im a fan of chunky necks, but this baja neck dwarfs my 57hotrod soft V and is also deeper than a U neck i have on a frankenstrat. I thought it may be something particular to tele's and part of their 'workhorse' vibe

Hi:

The neck on mine is more of a U shape...absolutely no V shape at all. I like the thicker necks I have long fingers, my 89 Tele has a very similar type neck...That's why I snagged the Baja

I think my 2005 American Series Tele has a clubby feeling neck, especially compared to my Strats.

dont get me wrong i love the guitar its great. Its definatley a U shape, i took measurements and from the bottom of the fretboard to the top via the back of the neck its 5mm bigger than my hotrods softV and my frankenstrat's U. I also noticed that with a high action the guitar intones far better.

I have a Fender "V" neck on my Epiphone ES-335. I had to screw around with the glue-on neck of course and put bolt holes on it and everything and it turned out great! I just got some "SUMO GLUE" and glued the neck back on. It looks like nothing ever happened (except the Fender neck of course......). 8)

upload em to photobucket Eddie then copy the image code and paste it here. I dont even use the img button on this site, photobucket has it written into their image code.

I'd love to see your fenderphone 335

Oh crap! That's right, I forgot that my camera is broken. I will have to get a new one soon (I hope I can, I just got 2 new guitars about a week ago, so I am a bit broke....). :( By the way, I think I will call my ES-335 a FenderPhone. Cool name by the way! :D 8)
