I just bought an MIM Standard Tele and upgraded the pickups to some vintage style Seymour Duncans (look at my singature to see which ones) and I noticed right away that when I use the middle position i get this awesome Strat sound but also get amazing Tele sounds from the other pickups. The cause for this is probably due to two things:
1) The combination of both pickups in parralel makes for a weaker signal (ala Strat pup)
2) The body wood is Alder (same as Strat)
Does anybody else hear this from your Alder Tele? All I know is that I love it. If you want a good guitar, this with the Duncans will keep you satisfied for a long time.
