I've got a 50th Anniversary American Tele that I'm thinking of selling, but am having trouble determining the value. When I say 50th Anniversary, the serial number corresponds to the year 1996, and it has the 50th Anniversary sticker on the back on the head stock. However, it has chrome hardware, not gold as I see in other pics of the 50th Anniversary. Am I correct in assuming that it IS a 50th Anniversary Edition, just not part of the Limited Edition guitars from that year? It came stock with Lace Sensor pickups, is sort of a blonde sunburst color, maple neck, etc. Any idea on how to determine the value? It's in perfect condition as I'm primarily a keyboard player and have not played this guitar very much at all. Thanks for your help.

Firstly, ALL guitars that Fender made during 1996 had the 50th Anniversary Gold Sticker on the back of the headstock, so no, it's not specifically a 50th Anniversary model. :(

Secondly, a Tele which came from the factory with Lace Sensor pups is not a standard Tele. It may be a Tele Plus. Does it have three pups, similar to a Strat?

Of course, if you could post a photo, it would make identification easier.

Yes, it has 3 pickups, all Lace Sensor. It's as bone stock as the day I bought it new. FYI, the serial number is N6146505. Any help identifying this thing would be greatly appreciated.

OK, it is definitely a Telecaster Plus.

The Telecaster Plus was originally conceived in 1990-91 and had three lace sensor pickups, but two of them were near the bridge, as per this photo:

After a few years, the third pickup sort of migrated towards the neck pickup, and for a while was in the middle, like your guitar.

In 1998 the Plua was renamed and became the model now known as the American Deluxe Tele.

If you're thinking of selling yours...I'm interested and I don't have a Tele Plus from the transition period to the Deluxe. Please email me to discuss this in more detail.

Thanks for all your help! It makes more sense now. I can't send you a PM....says it's been disabled on this board.
