I've owned my Esquire Tele for a few years now and the love affair is still going strong.
The problem is that it just started humming really, really bad.
This happened when I plugged it into my Kustom 36 Coupe amp.
When plugged into my AC15 and other amps it hums badly but not as bad as with the Kustom.

Now I have had my 52 RI's shielded with shield paint.
That works great but very messy.

I'm wondering if maybe a ground wire came loose but being a total igmo with electronics, I'm not sure where to look. :?

I do fret jobs and anything else my guitars need except electronics.

Any help & advice would be appreciated.

One place to check is to unscrew the control plate, then look and see if any of the wires are loose there, or if not loose, make sure the soldering looks sort of shiny, and not dull, because usually dull means a cold solder joint (PLEASE NOTE: Lead-free solder can look dull even though its a good joint, if what I am saying doesn't make sense or you still aren't sure what you're looking at, consult professional help.). I can't imagine the bridge ground coming loose at the bridge plate, because as long as the bridge plate has never been removed, there is no real way for that to come loose, unless its soldered and had some bad soldering on it. Also, if you haven't done so already, try another guitar through the amps, cause if that guitar is noisy as well, then you most likely have an amp issue, and not a guitar one. Hope that helps. Let us know what you find out...

Thanks for the advice.
I'll check those things out in the morning.
I'm playing another guitar through the same amp now and it's quiet, just like normal.
I'll check for the lose wires in the control plate and the bridge plate.

Thanks again.
