I have a question... Why does a new 50's Esquire, which is most likely MIM, cost $650? Don't get me wrong, I'd like to get one, but it seems wrong to pay that much. Anyone else agree?

Supply and demand maybe. For those who want the classic Esquire guitar without the CS price. :?:

Maybe because is the exact same guitar as a Classic Series 50's Telecaster, minus a neck pickup and a different wiring scheme.

Hello liveatsix,

This has bothered me too,
seems like I'm paying more for less.
It's one of the reasons I won't
bring one home.

Cheers.

Maybe you could just buy the MIM Telecaster, buy an Esquire pickguard, remove the neck pickup and rewire according to the Fender diagram and make your own Esquire. If you really want it to have the Esquire Label, you can make that on your PC, print it on decal paper, and replace the Telecaster decal. Just and idea. You could even sell the old pickguard and neck pickup on Ebay.
