I changed my MIM pups to Fender Original Vintage. Needles to say, it was an excellent improvement! My next pup change are Nocasters in my Hwy 1 Texas tele!

fender pickups are like the tip of the iceberg. there are so many good pickups out there. broaden your horizon.

For a Tele I would recommend Bill Lawrence ( www.billlawrence.com ) pickups. Yes, This is the same Bill Lawrence that designed the SCN Pickups for Fender.

Yes, Fender pups are just a few of some excellent pickups that are available. But...many new tele owners are a little uncertain about what particular sound they want. The good news is you know it when you hear it and that was the case with my Fender OV set.

THe larg pb pole peice pickups for the tele make the tele the best guitar on earth.

THe large surface area gives any string size unlimitied dynamic range and the q of the build is high. Even the rap is anti static .

Jay hit the nail on these for the tele. I am amazed that fender did not think of oversized pole pieces befor.!

It retains all tradition Tele sound and ads an infinite Dynamic range. Making a GFS equiped Tele the most versital guitar ever.

You gotta try the Fender Custom Shop's Texas Tele's.

I bought a new tele, put those pickups in there and run it through a VOX AC 30 amp.

I sound so awesome, I'm getting chicks from it. My bandmates are pissed!

It's all personal taiste. Your best bet is too goto a music store and play a bunch of guitars with different pick ups. Semore Duncan (spelling ?) makes great pickups for teles.

You can have pick ups made by a man named Lindy Fraylin (spelling ?) He is THE MAN when it comes to pickups.

In the end it all depends on what sound you are looking to get. Just make sure that they are ballenced.

Try split tube pickups, they're humbuckers in single coil format. They really obliterate that hum, but try a guitar w/ some on it and see if you like them.[/quote]

I had the pleasure this summer of meeting and spending a couple of hours with a gentlman named Sylvan Wells. He makes guitars, both electric and accoustic. He walked me and a buddy through the entire process and it was very cool. You guys should check it out at www.WELLSGUITARS.com.

Anyway he swears by KINMAN Tele pick-ups.
