It is. I just bought one a month or so ago ang I had to take off the pickguard for something so I saw it with my own two eyes.

Thanks for the info, I had ordered a pearly gates H/B for the neck pup on my 06 MIM Tele and then thought, sure hope its routed for one!!!

Going to put on a black guard and see if I can learn to love the three tone burst before I get out the sanders and turn her into a butterscotch.

How are you attempting to paint that Butterscotch by the way?

I have to be honest, I have no idea.

But hey thats what the many online guitar refinishing sites are for.

I would be happy with a blonde finish too, I would then age it to look as if it had been around the block a few times like me.

I would never even think about that with my strat, there is just something very right about an old beat up Tele that make me need one !!!

I have the Three-Color Sunburst MIM Tele and I spraypainted the pickguard black and that combination beats the butterscotch blonde over the head with a stick. It's my new favorite; I wish I had a picture. Trust me once you see the black on the sunburst, you'll forget you ever heard of butterscotch blonde its that awesome. If you want to see a good example of this, watch this video of Albert Lee:

I just watched bridges to babalon, the stones, Keith Richards had a burst tele with a black guard on it for a few songs.

It does look good for sure, I just don't know if I can live with the glowing paint scheme or what a bit of relic work will do for it.

Its the red in the three tone burst that gets to me, i just do not like it.

we will see when a new black guard gets here.

Oh, come on! That's the best part about that color.

I guess I am just so in love with my two tone burst 50th strat, that the three tone looks odd to me.

any way, if it goes like most of my projects it will be a long time before I do anything other than the Bucker in the neck, that is on the way.

and yes I will be putting on a black guard as well.
