Hey Guys,

I'm relatively new to this forum (look at my post count!) and I was wondering if you guys could help me with choosing a pickup for my Telecaster. In September of last year I purchased a 2006 MIM Telecaster over many other guitars. After a few months of playing it non-stop I noticed a couple things I didn't like. The most important of them was the sound the pickups were giving me.

Although I love "tele twang" it doesn't quite suit the music i'm playing; I love my Tele for it's playability. My music is a type of blues which most resembles John Mayer with obvious influences from Clapton, J.J. Cale & B.B. King. The tone I crave is predominatly Mayer's... but I can't afford his Strat nor can I afford a $500 ebay loaded pickguard.

The only upgrade I have done to my Telecaster was replacing the rhythm pickup with a Lace Sensor Gold. I love the rounded, glassy, noiseless sounds of Lace Sensors. So, i'm thinking maybe a Lace Sensor Blue (possibly?) in the neck position... but i'm not sure.

I know it was a long post, but I wanted to give all the info I could, as to make things easier.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a big fan of Dimarzio's, but when it comes to tele's they fall short.

For my Telecaster, i'm planning on tossing in Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 pros. - I'm after something a little richer, less on the hi-output kinda and over-all smooth. I could definetly see it being bluesable - it's kinda my goal. bluesy/ classic rock, all, seymour duncan has online audio samples, give them a listen for sure.

hope that helps ya.
