I have a Question or two about the Standard Ash Telecaster (MIM). I can't seem to find any detailed specs here on the Fender site or anywhere on the interweb. Are they not in production any longer? I have seen that they are available through Guitar Center and MusiciansFriend, so are they a special run only for them?

I've been looking for a plain-jane ash/maple Tele, and I think that may fit what I'm looking for, if I can find one.

I think that they were a FSR, but not positive?

Hello Liveatsix,

I've played them at the Guitar Center,
its a nice guitar. 50 bucks more than
the standard mex but worth it in my
humble opinion.

Cheers.

Yup. I found one this evening for $420, played it for about an hour at the store, then brought it home with me. Very nice player and the looks are a nice bonus, too. I have a rule that it has to be ash/maple. Very well made and doesn't feel like a standard at all. Also glad it wasn't a larger chunk of cash.

Now, I want to upgrade the tuners to vintange slotted. I've never modded or upgraded any of my guitars before. Can anyone instruct me to where I can find the bigger spaced ferrules to stick in the wider holes when I replace the tuners, please?

I just picked one up at Guitar Cenetr for $420 and don't see it on fender site as well. My question was it's the only standard tele that doesn't come with a case. Why is that? Is it the trade off for the Ash vs Alder? They had 3 in stock and this one weighed a ton more than the other ash models but still sounded great. The neck didn't feel as good as the others so it was a trade off. I went for tone I guess as good as my lame ear could identify anyway. There was a label on the back that said special edition or deluxe edition? The year on the others neck was from '06. All very confusing. Oh yeah. One last thing. Mine is 2 piece body and the others were all 3 piece ash. Very hot pickups. Not what i expected but very cool.

I'm pretty sure it is still on the MusiciansFriend website just search telecaster and you can find it. I'm at school or I would give you the link.
