I would love to have the Andy Summers Telecaster tribute guitar. But at a limited edition of only 250 units and at $10,500 a pop, I don't think that will be a dream that will come to reality, much as I might be willing to forego 5 house payments to own one.

So how about an Artist model rather than a tribute? Foget the aging paint and other cosmetic touches, throw on the pickups, the preamp, and the phasing switch. C'mon, Fender, how long could it take you to put out an American production model like that with a more reasonable price point?

Why do we have to beg to spend our money on desired Fenders?

+1 for me.

Would love to get an Andy Summers tele. I too would like the features of the guitar without the relic job and custom shop treatment to bring the guitar down to a more reasonable price point.

Hey Fender? Any thoughts? Or maybe a how to guide if there are now plans?

Why not just do it yourself? You can start from scratch or you can modify a current similiar model. I built a blackout tele when they were not available and it's better than the actual released model.

It's basically an Alder body maple neck guitar - get a Mexican Standard (great guitars), route it for a humbucker and ad all of the other features you desire.

Do remember that his guitar was something he had worked on and developed on his own for a while (kind of like the EVH Frankenstrat). A self made AS would be more loyal to his spirit then a ready-from-the-factory model...
