I was wondering....Since I am waiting to get out of work just to go home and play guitar, oh, and spend time with the family.....How many of you see your work as the means to acquire gear??? Aside of mortage and usual required stuff, like food, gas, and s**t.... You know, an steady line of income for those things life require and, above it all, to get gear?
Do you get your pay check and start doing the math to see how much is left for that new AM Std you have been saving for? You guys and gals get the idea
And can you tell me what do you guys do for a living (if not to nosy), just wondering how diverse are we?
(I am a research, evaluation and design coordinator)

Rock on

Yes, I see my employment as a means to more gear for me and/or my student. I'm always showing her new stuff to see what she might think she would like to have.

I used to work in communications system design, but now am a RF Engineer for the local Naval Station.

It's one of the reasons that I get out of the rack in the morning. Other than keeping roof over my head and food in my gut, "Tele Lust" is driving force for sure. I work as a automation mechanic in steel and paper mills for an international equipment company. There better be a good reason for me working as I do or I'm nuts. Peace. J.J.B.

Oh I don't think that's quite right. It's friday night and if I wasn't stuck in a hotel about 500 miles from home, I'd be out playing or checking some other band. So give it a bit and I think you might get some good responces. Peace. J.J.B.

Well I definitely see it that way because I play music for a living and my gear is as important to me as a carpenter's hammer, and accountants computer, etc. I consider myself lucky that I am able to do what I love for a living and I don't have any bosses to answer to other than the bar owners, promoters who hire me to perform at their venues. Let me say though that my wife and I both work for ourselves and at times money can get real tight, but I wouldn't trade in what I do now for a day job, just to make more money. I am doing what I know I was meant to do in life and there is satisfaction in that.

I work to acquire my toys. Guitars just happen to be one of the toys hehheh. For me I have an Army Pension a small amount of that goes to my credit union (mad money account). Some of my current job money goes there also (small amount). I also do some part time work and all that money goes into the mad money account (40 dollars an hour, minimum 4 hours guaranteed. On average I only work 2 of those 4 hours). All the rest goes to the wife who I leave the responsibilities to pay the bills etc. I dont touch any of her money and i dont know what she does with it. She makes more than me. All my jobs are like play time to me since I work at what I want to do. Even my Army career was like that. Im hoping that one day I have an unknown rich uncle that dies and leaves me all his money or I hit the Mega Bucks in Vegas hahahahahaha!!

I have more gear than sense. I have had all of my dream guitars. I play them and if I don't like them for some reason, or I just don't play them, I sell them. Rics, Gretschs, Casino, Ibanez's, Teles, Strats and Martins. I sell and buy all the time. This way I keep using the same money and I get the chance to play all the guitars I feel like I would want in the heard. For some reason Teles are still my main and favorite electric axes!

Hey cush66 same here 'cept for the working as playtime, mine is a real pain, although is not hard. I will follow ya example and see if I can find my way into career playland, yet, I am way far from retirement...
But you wont get the megabucks if I win it first, jajajajajaja

Gratz, you a chef...? WOW, two artistic interests right there, do you cook a lassagna with an "eruption" of flavors? Bet you do, Impressive man, just impresive.

And for the rest, my hat down for all of you hard working guys that have to endure labor to have a little pleasure
Cheers
