I have been on before but didn't get much response, but try again.
I have a tele that was made in March of '52 and I also have the original
case, even though it has the back side of duct tape covering it. The original owner taped it with duct tape for some reason and now the silver is all gone and the tan color shows now. The original owner played for
Ray Price and Jim Reeves in the '50's and '60's, was in the army with my Dad, owed him money and paid him with the guitar.
Where or who in the Dallas area could tell me about what it might be worth, I'll never sell it, it is the sweetest and easiest guitar to play that I own. Can someone give me some advise.

Thanks,
and Rock on

For real? Really for real? If I had an original 52, I would not sell it either but knowing the value is important because you should be calling your insurance company and calmly informing them you wish to take out a rider on your home insurance for your historically significant 1952 guitar. When they ask the value, tell them its worth roughly $50,000-$70,000.

I'm not kidding. My local vintage store has an original 52 on display, beat up and salty going for $50,000. Currently there's an auction on eBay for a 52 tele with an asking price of $70,000.

If I were you, after calling my insurance company and making sure you are allowed under your rider to transport the guitar, I would take it to a vintage shop for appraisal.

You my friend have a very exciting piece of musical history in your hand.

Would you be so kind as to post a pictures of your guitar?

You should share your story with the folks on TDPRI (google it and join).
