well the 72 deluxe used to come in butterscotch blonde, but I don't think I've ever seen one with a rosewood board. May be an aftermarket from Warmoth or something. I know a band where the lead singer has a blonde 72 deluxe with the forearm contour and the variax mod. Just an example of another major modification.

The Telecaster Deluxe is very similar to another Fender model sold in the 1970s - the Telecaster Custom. The Custom can be differentiated from the Deluxe by its use of the "classic Tele"-style neck & headstock, as well as the "ashtray" bridge and single-coil slanted bridge pickup also used by all other Telecaster models. The Custom was also available with a rosewood fretboard, whereas the Deluxe was only available with maple.

There was a limited edition of the 72 Deluxe in "Shoreline Gold" a year or more ago. Not exacly sure of when that was, though. And the rosewood board confounds me, also.

Come to think of it, maybe it was a Custom FMT. They were available in Amber with the rosewood.
