Hi guys, new guy here.

I bought a Jim Root Tele back in April, and loved it. Loved it so much I ordered another!!

I ordered it through GC on 5/23/08. Should have been about 3-4 weeks.

Checked in then - delayed until 7/4/08.

Checked in 7/11/08 - delayed until 8/23/08 - something about a "damaged" shipment. But I'm #2 on "the list" now...

Checked in today - backordered until "Sometime in October". Called Fender's CS line on advice from my sales guy and got nowhere - no answers at all. Worst customer service I've ever had. Period.

So how the heck can a STOCK GUITAR be on an endless backorder? What is so special about these guitars that they "might have a parts shortage" etc? Really??

Anyone else having these problems? Anyone have any insight? This is utter BS - 5 months to get a stock guitar. It will be the last new Fender I'll buy. Sorry about the sour grapes, but they are the biggest damn guitar company in the world, and they can't manage to get a stock guitar into the hands of someone in less than 5 MONTHS!?!?!

Wow.

Did you order a Black or white one? The Black ones are in stock at MusiciansFriend.com and SamAsh.com , but everyone seems to be out of the White. I don't know why its on endless backorder, other than that there may be a bit more demand for this guitar than they originally expected...If you ordered it from a local store then they may be having issues with their supplier or something. If you ordered it from GC online, I am confused because GC and MF are basically the same company, and if one has it, the other should too, however, GC stores and the online operation are sort of separate entities.

As far as parts shortage, since these Teles are made out of Mahogany, instead of the typical Alder or Ash for most Fender Teles, there could be an issue with getting enough bodies....And the pickguards are not the usual Tele pickguard, so those could be some things causing delays...I mean it is a STOCK guitar, but its made from stuff that most Fender stock guitars are not made of, so there may be some issues getting enough parts from suppliers....

Thanks for the input guys.

I currently have the Flat Black one, and the Flat White on order. It was an in-store special order from Guitar Center. I've had it on order since May, hence my frustration.

The guitar is AWESOME, but this wait is really jacking up my opinion of Fender. When they can't give you a REAL reason for the problem (I WANT SPECIFIC REASONS...), then it's nothing other than an excuse.

I'm about ready to cancel the order and grab a new Charvel and be done with it. But I'll continue to be patient and wait for the next let down.

I just spoke with Fender and they told me suppliers will
have "some" white ones in two weeks and that a major
volume production will "BEGIN" next month.....

"Wonderful"...I'll believe it when I see it. I'm beyond disappointed at this point. It would be nice though. I'm going to wear the thin paint off my black one if it goes on much longer.

Anytime I have ordered anything from GC, it was somehow miraculously placed on back order....BUT it is listed as "IN STOCK " when I ordered it.
And it was a Fender product each time......hmmmmmmm.

Perhaps you guys should try ordering from ZZounds nextime. They are great to deal with. They have the "pay while you play" plan for items over $400 and up to date inventory tracking on the website. That's who I bought my Hwy 1 Tele from and got it in 2 days. I only buy from GC if it is phyically in their store.

Americanmusical shipped my other stuff quickly, it just
appears that noone has the white Jim Root Tele! AMS
also has 3 month pay as u play for $999 and less or
5 months for $1000 to either 3 or $5,000.00 (I cant remember)
with credit approval required for the 5 moth plan. I have
always had luck with musiciansfriend as well. My guitar center
STORE experiences are so bad that i'll "probaby" never go back
unless I really have to...Oh yeah its moved back to 11-14-08 now...

They had the same problems with the Blackout Teles. I guess when your the biggest guitar maker in the world, you still have problems with the demand of certain models. Patience is always rewarded at some point in time. I have also found out that Muscians Friend may have something in stock when you order it, but the invenory is not current and when the order gets to the warehouse, it may be on backorder. I have only purchased things from MF or GC if they are the only one carrying the product. I have been using Sweetwater lately and their customer Service seems to be a little better and when your order arrives, you get candy. If your diabetic, I am sure they will send sugerless candy if you tell them.

Couldn't agree more.

Honestly, I think that your first mistake was going to GC...I hate that place. I would only go their if I needed strings or something cheap that I was positive they had in stock...and even then, they would have to be the only store open.

Truly sorry about you order...I can relate.

Good luck with that.

It's very kind of you to pay when you order and allow them to have your money while they wait 6 months to ship your guitar. You are very kind indeed.
