Does anyone know where I can purchase a used Rosewood Tele that were made in Japan in the 80's-90's Harrison model? I do not want to spend 4-5 grand on a custom shop or master built. I heard the ones that were reissued in the late 80's-90's made in Japan are great guitars.

Check eBay and perhaps google it, you may find some ads.

Fender Japan still makes a Rosewood Tele model:

I don't buy guitars off of ebay, because you don't always get what you paid for. The new ones coming out of Japan are not what the reissues from the 80-90's are. I am looking for one from that era. I was hoping someone who is a music dealer reading this, might have one in their store. Thank you though for trying to help me out on this.

Hello MotorCityChick,

New japanese tele's only
have a veneer of rosewood
on the top and bottom,
the body is basswood.
sides are painted
super dark brown.
with a maple neck.

A far cry from the new custom shop
or the original vintage.

I've seen them as low as $700 used

Japanese Rosewood tele's
form the 80's and 90's
are just about right on but generally
sell for around $2000.
This is a pretty sweet axe.

Best of luck ith your quest.

Cheers.

I think if she looks hard enough, she just might find one. People that really look hard usually find great "steals" when they are patient. Personally, I think being patient and finding what she wants would be better than bass wood with venier pasted to it.
