You may even want to get in between a (MIM) Standard and a Highway One and buy a (MIM) 70's Tele reissue. Even the (MIMs) have to stick to the authenticity of the 70's specs. So these are a little more better quality and expensive that just a (MIM) standard. Probably somewhere's in between a Standard and a Highway One.

I would say that the Highway One is a great axe that's hot. Now if you do choose to get a MIM its a great axe!

I hate to say it but Im all about buying American if you can afford it, so my advice is to buy the Highway One. I own one and am very happy with it.

Name-brand guitars. Definitely one place where you can say that you get what you pay for. The Highway One series is a step up the ladder from the Mexican guitars. Highway Ones are made in the USA. To me the most visible difference is the quality of the hardware. It's just better on the Highway Ones.

Somebody recommended saving a few more bucks and waiting to get an American Standard. Good idea.

I just put down a deposit on a James Burton (upgrade) model in Olympic White. Fender tells my music shop that it should be delivered in late November. Merry Christmas to me.

:)

I HATE THESE DAMN QUESTIONS! Anyways, go with whatever you like, nobody on this forum can tell you what to buy! It's what you like, not what we like. Buy what you find is comfortable in your hands. By the way, I own the 2 of them. 8)

I've been looking at the Highway 1 and the Highway 1 Texas, then realized that the American Standard really isn't all that much more when you consider that you get a hardshell case with it.

I found an American Deluxe on eBay - Mint - for under what an American Standard costs. Cant go wrong with any American Fender.

Hi:

I own both, I was a little disappointed on my Hwy 1, I got it used really cheap, The frets were so tall it caused certain chords and licks to go sharp. Had to pay a bunch extra to get it fixed. Had the frets shaved and still didn't like it, then I had it re-fretted.

My MIM on the other hand, all I have done to it was swap the pickups for Texas Specials and a different pickguard.

For the price of a Hwy 1...Look at the Baja Tele...I have one of those too, I like the baha over the Hwy 1

The case that you get with the Am. Standard these days is bomb proof. I use my Standard case the fly around my Hwy 1. TSA lock and tough as nails. Best part is with a $900 case you get a free Telecaster.Woo Hoo!!
Peace. J.J.B.

Thank you guys! Been thinkin' a lot but I just couldn't decide for my own... Do you have that feeling sometimes when you're eager about getting something and you have to wait for a long time, but when the day comes that you can have it, you suddenly have second thoughts of getting it? Whew.. that's what I am right now. :)

I've definetly had those thoughts.

The worst series was when I was originally going to get a Dean V-coustic. Then I wanted a Crate amp. Then a smaller Crate amp w/ cheap guitar. Then Raven amp w/ more expensive yet still cheap guitar.

After a few more sequences, I ended up trying to get a case, strap and guitar. Then musicians friend emailed us two days later that "Oh, that shipment doesn't have the guitar. And, to top it all off, we are sold out." Not in excact words

So I ended up getting a Fender MIM Standard Tele. Not bad, but not the Hagstrom Deluxe I wanted...

American Standard... I think it really worth the 200$ more... i own both an Highway one and a Am Standard and the American standard sound way better and the quality of the instrument is also better. But if i was too choose between a Highway One and a MIM standard, i would definitivly go for a Highway one, they are awsome guitars too.

(and you get a really good hardshell case with the AM standard  )
