Possibly, but you could park a car in the gap between the body and the neck if you put a strat neck on a tele body. Tele necks are a little larger than strat necks, so while it is possible, i do not think it is worth it.

Some folks (like Eric Clapton) were doing it 40 years ago.

Thanks for the info. I replaced my strat neck and was just thinking I might do something with the old one.

I've just answered that in my topic. Look at Clapton in that Blind Faith video. He is playing a Telecaster with a Strat neck. He was a guitar tinkerer.

It's not a problem at all I changed mine out a few years back and it fit like a glove, as a matter of fact The Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe and J5 Triple Tele Deluxe that are in production now both have a strat neck.
I hope this has been some help to you.

I did this one about 40 years ago and played it for several years with no problem. To bad I sold the guitar with the Strat neck on it. If any one knows where this Tele is let me know.

Yup it can, Steve Morse did it waaaaay back when. I think the 72 custom or deluxe Tele came with a Strat neck too. I know there are Tele's out there with Strat necks.

As the others have said it fits like a glove, but you can`t switch the other way around because of the square heel on the tele necks wont fit the strat neck pocket.

Teles are very versatile, you want a strat neck, you can attach a Strat neck!

I've seen some pictures of 2008 Strat MIM, Artist Series and Deluxe Player bodies on ebay that seem to show oversized corner routes on the neck pocket, essentially making the neck pocket square. I think a tele neck would slip straight on those, as the heel dimension (to tip) is the same on both, it's just the different shapes that make the fit a chore.

The length of the necks are the same, that I know. But most strats don`t have this square neck pocket as far as I know. I am curently reshaping the neck pocket on a Ibanez because of the same issue.

According to the seller these are all official Fender 2008 bodies.

Now it could be the angle or some weird missing/chipped paint issue, but all those pockets look significantly different to the usual Strat pocket, and able to take a tele neck with no modification.
It would certainly be nice if Fender could confirm if this is the case and if so which models have this neck pocket style.
