Hi everyone. First post here!

I just picked up a Tele Acoustasonic and I'm really enjoying it. One big problem though: the open B string, though any amp/pre-amp, has a ridiculous amount of "sizzle" or sheen to it. It's giving a ton of harmonics, like it's run through a high-pass filter. Very imbalanced, and makes any DI recording super cringey.

Unplugged, the strings are nicely balanced. The string has no mechanical buzz. The problem only happens when plugged in, in switch positions 2-5 (i.e., it doesn't happen with the "regular" Tele pickup).

Any ideas on what the problem might be, or how I could try to fix myself without having to send it in for a repair?

Thanks!

A complete good set-up may fix the issue.

Many new guitar may need a complete set up, the temperature at the building plant can be very different than at your home and affect the wood.

A good store must do a complete set up before you go home with the guitar
