I’m going to wait for the tape. My guitar is kept at work. I work the night shift and have a lot of down time there . But it is in a hospital hence my being only able to use a setup with headphones. The only piece of equipment that’s grounded in my office is my laptop which has an aluminum case. After running through some blues riffs for a half hour or so my hand got more used to being closed and strumming became much easier. I still am going to need to be able to touch my pick guard while playing but it was awesome to be able to use the other two pickup positions. I truly appreciate all the input. Looking forward to wrapping this up
Lou

"The only piece of equipment that’s grounded in my office is my laptop which has an aluminum case."

This do not mean it is grounded.

I'd almost guarantee it's not grounded.

This static problem is surely very simple to correct and it would probably be already for those who know it and who is on hand to take note of the environment where the guitar is used.
We have just learned that there is a carpet ....
That the author believes that the computer is grounded, wrongly.

Repairing without being on site and with summary information despite the good will of the author is very difficult

Man you guys are harsh. The computer is the ONLY electrical appliance in the room that has a plug with a ground. I READILY ADMIT TO NOT KNOWING whether or not it was . All right I should have this fixed by now. Just say “WHAT ARE YOU A MORON! “And just because you don’t go right out and say it doesn’t make you any less rude. This is my last visit.

I decided to check continuity from the ground connection on the plug of my laptop PSU, and the sleeve of the PSU into laptop and was surprised that I found continuity.
I was labouring under the misapprehension that the laptop PSU is double insulated, and therefore didn't have a ground connection.

I also checked my son's laptop PSU, and found that there was no ground continuity, so the PSU has to be double insulated.

It's possible that the OP's metal laptop case is also grounded, but equally it might not be grounded.
A continuity check would prove it either way.

It's a great shame that the OP is overly sensitive, and sees insult where none is intended.
