Hi gang,

Looking for a little insight/advice here. I recently purchased a custom shop 2017 '59 Esquire Relic from a local music store which unfortunately didn't include a build sheet with it, though the COA was included. In doing a little research and submitting the serial number to Fender customer service they came back with the build sheet in less than 48 hours. Only downside is it's not for the guitar I'm holding. :?

In doing additional research it also seems that the custom shop '59 Esquires also ceased production around 2006 and this build sheet is for a more modern Wildwood Telecaster.

Given the COA has the correct serial printed on it that matches the neck plate, though the build sheet doesn't match and this model ceased production 11 years prior can anyone clue me on what's going on?

Pics attached.

Lift the pickguard next time you do a string change.
If the neck pickup pocket says 59 relic then it is probably an administrative error by fender.
Check the neck date as well if it is older
Fender can reissue coas for old guitars they come with the date the new coa was requested
If the date is 2017 it could be a 2017 special order
You could then notify them with pics.
Whether they then correct it is another story :D

No need to remove strings to remove the pickguard, it is easy to slide between strings and fretboard.

To remove the neck, I only loosen the strings by installing a capo on the 1st freight to keep them aligned on the nut.
The neck can then be disassembled and reassembled, keeping the same strings.
