A lot of people say the telecasters has a lot of twang to them. I havent exactly experienced it first hand. So how do you guys use your tele to get a twang to it. If it makes any difference I have a Blues Deluxe.

It doesn't take much to get the "twang" sound from a tele, that is their tonal characteristic, for me when i want it to sound real snappy i flip it to the bridge pick up and start chicken pluckin...

Have to agree with Jam. Switch to the bridge pup and turn up the tone a tad and instant twang!!!

Try lighter gauged strings, and when you pick, instead of striking the string from side to side, try to lift it up and let it drop back down.

The 'twang' can really shine by using the bridge pickup - it also helps if you crank the tone to 10.

what exactly is twang? i would never describe my tele as having "twang". if anything, i would describe it's sound as "bouncy". or "boxy". no twang comin' from my guitar.

Twang= the distinct sound a tele has or makes when switched to the bridge pup, tone know set to at least 3/4 or more (Luther Perkins for example).

the sound you get when you pick a string really hard on any other guitar is twang, but on a tele you get it easily.

Don't have a Tele, but a good way do get twang is this:

On distortion, a good way is to crank it down just a tad, have the tone up about half way, and switch to bridge position (all the way down!), then you can get some good twang by doing some double stop bends. Bends are key though.

A good clean Tele twang can be achieved by notching the tone all the way up, set your amp on all the way on the knob marked "treble" or "high" and do some chicken plucking. Works great for my Aria Pro, and it's worked with all the Teles I've played.

Happy Playin'!

personally i cant really attest to that, because i always overdrive my guitars with quite a bit of distortion since i typically play hard rock music and metal ( i usually play Rage Against the Machine type stuff on my tele)
