Hello Everyone!

I'm looking at upgrading to a set of highland saddles. The problem is I can't figure out the string spacing on my guitar. Most people online say the 2008-2012 Am Std Teles are 2 1/16" (stewmac recommends this size for my guitar), but I can't seem to get that reading when measuring myself (it's somewhere between 2 1/8" and 2 3/16"). I'm also not sure where I should be measuring as the saddles don't have a notch so the strings are not perfectly aligned. Should I be measuring the pole pieces, or the intonation screw spacing?

If anyone knows the spacing on this model I would greatly appreciate the info.

Thanks,

I read where strings come out from the saddles;

My Am St 1984 Tele ; 2 1/16 " ( or very,very,very close) string spacing.

My 1995 AM standard Strat read ; 2 1/16 "( or very,very,very close) string spacing.

IMO all AM ST guitars are same

I read from center of E bass string to center of E high string

I can't find link for Highland saddles

Google ;

Oh yea Highwood sorry!

https://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Pa ... _of_6.html

They are even recommending the 2 1/16" for Am Std guitars. Maybe I'm measuring incorrectly? I should track down a different ruler.

Hey,

What is the ideal place to measure the spacing? Should I measure the pole pieces, intonation screws? Since the strings don't have centre notches, I'm not sure they are giving me an accurate reading.

What about measuring the spacing or the ferrules?

Dumb moment for me, didn't even think of measuring the width of the saddles. Will report in once I get home and find a better ruler.

With six saddle Tele bridges, I think the best way to measure the nominal string spacing is to measure the distance between the centers of the outmost intonation screws (that's the same as with Strat bridges).
I'm calling the spacing nominal, since strings often don't follow this measure...

I went a picked up a cheap cabinet makers rule, and indeed measures 2 1/16 dang near perfectly. Thanks for the help guys. I'll be a bit smarter next time :)
