You have to be cruel to be kind.
Dump the Modern Player and get a Squier Classic Vibe 50s if you want Tele twang on a budget. Made by the same Chinese company that makes the Modern Players but a sound specific guitar not a multi-style pickup compromise. One of those MP+ demos is "quackier" than a lot of Strats!

If I where looking for a telecaster twang, I'll go for a 2 single coil Tele.

^^^^^ He's right.
The first thing that I noticed in the OP was "3 pickups"
Then when I tried to find the MP, all of the images came back Modern Player Plus with a humbucker.

That's not a Tele, and it's going to take some creativity to get Tele Twang.
Even if it is three single coils, a big part of the Tele Twang is the Tele middle pickup position... bridge and neck together. That may or may not be an option with the Modern Player... and if the bridge pickup is a humbucker, it's not going to sound right anyways.

If you will notice, I too am a Rock Star.
It is not my username.
It is my "level" here on the forum, as are the number of picks displayed under my username, which is BMW-KTM.

I agree you should consider lowering your pickups.
I also think you should take into consideration the fact that your hands may be the impediment to getting the tone you are after.
I've seen people assemble the exact rig of an artist they want to sound like right down to the smallest detail and still not be able to get "that" tone.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

So, following the ideology of the topic ("that guitar/pickups won't do, get another guitar/pickups set"), maybe RW63 should also get a pair of new hands.

Seriously speaking, that joke is not aimed at you - and you may very well be right - tone is in the player, not in the equipment. (And re: the subject of MP Tele+ & twang, that is IMHO sort of proven by the demo vid st52 posted on page one.)
But this topic was originally about pickup height in general, so...

I lowered all three pickups and started with 2.4 mm on the bass side and 2.0mm on the treble side, then started making small adjustments. I found the sweet spot that I was looking for. So, we know now that the pine body had nothing to do with. The stock pickups are just fine. Having 3 pickups doesn’t make it impossible to get the twang. My 44 year experienced, yet somehow tone-incapable hands weren’t a deterrent. Just lower those pickups for a woodier, airier tone and crank that Fender Twin. I appreciate all the good advice...and the....”less than expert” advice as well

Yup... and I am by no means a professional musician.
Even though I've been playing since Jimmy Carter was President and Callaghan was PM of the UK, I'm at best an "intermediate guitarist"... with very rough chops from taking too-frequent breaks in playing.
