I recently sent a question to customer support about the possibility of a mini-Telecaster. The individual that answered my question wasn't sure if the marketing team had looked into the feasability of such a project. I'd like to know just how many people think this is a good idea.

****Just a side note, I tried to make this a poll to accumulate actual numbers but apparently I didn't do it correctly. I guess I need to read up on how to do that. I think though, that replies to the question would work just as well.

****Edited 9/14/08 for clarity. Too many people thought I was talking about a replica guitar.

I don't think that I'd be very interested in a "mini" Telecaster. Just my opinion, as requested. The standard sized ones are just fine by me.

The intent of making such a guitar would be so children and people with smaller hands would be able to play a telecaster. Pretty much the same as the mini-Strat intent. I didn't mean it as a replacement for the person that plays a full sized guitar. I thought that would be readily apparent.

There is a mfgr that already makes something like that. The name escapes me, but it's something like "Santa Rosa" I believe?

I have searched high and low for a mini-Tele and can't find anything. There are people that will make them I believe but the cost is prohibitive as a first guitar for a bginner. And besides, I want the Fender name on it.

Yeah, I might have wanted a mini-tele when I was beginning to play. And still think it could be a good idea. How'd you contact them, this hasn't occured to me yet, I'm a new user and live in Finland. I'd like to ask a few things from Fender customer support too..

I emailed them via the customer support email on the support link. Hope that makes sense.

Did you mean this: consumerrelations@fender.com

Hadn't had the time yet to check every subcategory in here, so thanks for the help :)

Yes that's the address. An individual will reply to your email though. They are very polite too.

Are you sure this guitar is even playable and not just used primarily as just a replica or a decoration piece?

This guy's talking about the mini Tele replica. How do you know if it's even playable or used just as a decoration piece?

I am "This guy". I was not talking about a Tele replica. What I'm suggesting is a mini-Tele like the mini-Strat. A guitar for a child or individual with smaller hands. I'm trying to gauge what the popularity of such a thing would be so Fender/Squier can see the feasability of producing one. Trust me, the mini-Strat is not a replica, it plays very well if it is setup properly. I bought one for my student and set it up for her and it sounds just like a full-size Strat. The problem is I play a Hwy 1 Tele and she likes my sound better. So she wants a mini-Tele. As I have posted in another thread, I'm probably going to have to replace her bridge and neck pickups with Tele pickups so she will have the same sound.

Hey, "this guy"...I would buy at least two (prob more), one for each of my daughters, at least until they can grow into fitting their thinlines I am storing for them (if they dont want them when they grow up- who wouldnt????- I can get to keep them, win-win sit right there)
Great idea, never occur to me I could think other than the mini-strat
