I am a strat player for many years now.
I have always loved the comfort of the strat body & contours.
I went to the local Guitar Center yesterday & played the most comfortable telecaster!
This one:

The website doesn't show it but it had the body curve at the top for your rib cage...
And also the recessed heel...

It was very light weight, extremely comfortable like a strat, & it played GREAT!
Thumbs up on this guitar!

yeah, these are great guitar. I tried it also, and i'm more of a strat player, but just by adding that little curve for the rib cage like you said make a whole difference. They sound great, they look great and they are comfortable... I want one ! 8)

I like this one too. It feels more comfortable like a Strat, but has that great Tele tone. It probably is the answer to my problem. I love the Strat feel and playability, but I like the tone better on a Tele.

The "premium" alder is what probably makes it more lightweight. It is a pleasure to play and sounds great too!

I think Fender just sold me a telecaster for the first time with the american deluxe.
Unfortunately I don't have the cheese for it.
I hope they still make em like this by then...

They are truly sweet looking Tele's, and more comfortable to play sitting down. The binding is a nice touch too. Very Fancy.

The American Deluxe has that strat contour and more comfortable. I guess it doesn't sound much different than other Teles. Everyone I know who has one love them.

Did the description change? When I click specs it says "select alder" or am I just getting paranoid cause I haven't bought one yet? lol

Most telecaster purists would be aghast because of the absence of an ash body. Some claim there is change in sound, the alder being more focused or 'midrangey' in sound, and ash having more extreme highs and lows. I don't think much will change in sound, except for the pickups and amp settings.

But I can see why you may like the contoured body; I don't really notice the lack of a body contour when I play the Tele. I actually notice the contour of the Strat as being too flat or contoured. Sometimes I think I'll miss the strings, especially when standing. But I'm a skinny guy.... I sit and play the Tele with no problem. My Baja has an ash body, and it sounds great.

I have one. Mine is a 2000 model which I bought new. It has a maple fretboard, V/N pups and an alder body in transparent crimson. It's a great sounding guitar with lots of bite and spank. After owning it for not very long I ended up selling my 2 other Teles because they suddenly felt so uncomfortable and didn't give me anything (tonally or visually) that my Am Del couldn't give me. It took me a little while to get used to the neck with its rolled radius fretboard but now I prefer that kind of neck. eat your hearts out, fellas.

BMW-KTM, what's a rolled radius fretboard? Most Fender necks are 9.5" radius, as are my three guitars and this very nice AM Deluxe Tele. I like the thick soft V-neck on the Baja, though.

The lower edge of the fretboard, ie. next to the first string, has had the corner softened with a radius as compared to the edge next to the sixth string or compared to almost every other neck on other guitars made by Fender or others. I say almost because I don't know every guitar made by every company and it is possible there are other guitars out there with this feature. The intention was to make the neck more comfortable and easier to play. I could be mistaken about this but I believe all AD Fenders have come this way since 2000. My 1999 AD Strat does not have it but my 2004 50th Anniversary AD Strat does. Just one more of the fine little nuances that don't seem like much on paper but that do make paying a little extra coin over the price of an AS worth it. There are a number of these small but noticeable differences between AS and AD and most folks don't think it's worth the additional cost but I believe it is. Of course for the vintage enthusiast, of which I am not one, this is all drivel but I think there are no finer Fenders made than the AD series. That's why I have 3 of them. Four if you count my bass.

I agree with the OP :D I've got the 2008 MIA Tele Deluxe, it's an amazing guitar.
