Was that pickguard copper shield added on this tech visit or earlier? (I don't think that's a factory stock.)

The rewiring is my gut feel, not an absolute fact. On a guitar this old, I'd just expect a little more dust, rust, beer, gunk even inside the control cavity. But the TBX date (R13789??) would fit the 1989.

Fender didn't put date stamps on pickups. So, if the pickup fits the guitar model, it's hard/near impossible to say one way or another on originality - at least for me.

Here's a link to the tdpri forum, where all pics are visible on the topic: http://www.tdpri.com/threads/1989-tele- ... mp.962796/

Nope, just had tech take pics and setup. The shielding was done before.

Previous owner said he bought guitar about 12 years ago. Only thing he did was change pick guard back when he purchased. Previous owner did not do shielding, I believe he bought it off craigslist. He kept it very clean and rarely played.

When I first tried the guitar I was suspicious of how quiet it was. Figured he had put a noiseless in or something, but the shielding and wiring would explain that.

I typically I am a stickler about everything being stock, I don't know why lol

Glad you think pots are original.

Thanks for all the info, super interesting.

p.s. I am the OP of the TDRPI thread 8)
