I was told it is a 69, but I am not sure now. The serial number is VN306728. That makes it Korean, but could it still be a 69? It has a plywood body, I think that would be bad, but I am not sure. It also doesn't say Squire anywhere on it, and has two of the string keeper things on the neck. It has a maple neck with the skunk stripe, and somebody has changed out the bridge to a different make with a humbucker, and they also changed the tuning pegs to a bolt through. The jack on the body is not recessed like I see on all other older teles, but was probably changed also. The strings are through body, and it has black fret markers. The knobs are from a strat, and I cant tell if the pots are original. My wife got it for me, after being told it was a 69 (the year I was born), and now I was told it may be a 93, not 69. How much is it worth, and should i take it back to the guy she bought it from?

Your guitar was made in Korea
in the Year(s): Cannot yet be determined from serial number

In the case of your guitar you would need to take it apart and check the numbers on the neck and in the neck pocket.

There is no date on the neck or on the neck pocket. How much do you thinkk its worth? Rough estimate. I appreciate your help.

How much do you value it? That may determine what it is worth. It doesn't seem to be collectors item.

I took that tele back. The body was plywood, the neck was a 93 Korean, it had some off brand bridge and a humbucker in the back, and fairly worn frets. It didn't sound aweful, but it didn't sound like a tele either. The plywood just didn't sound right for me, and seemed a little sacriligious. I proceeded to go out and buy the tele baja, and wow is ther a difference. The value of the guitar was not really that much of an issue other than the guy told my wife it was something it wasn't, and charged her close to $800 for it. For the same money I went down and bought an amazing guitar, and my wife is still cool with it. I am now an official Fender Family Man!
