Thanks Locking Tuners fitted.
Also where can I get a wiring diagram for the Player H/H.
The screen around the wires coming from the pickup were soldered to the pots by a maximum of 3 of the strands of screening which as soon as anything was touched they fell off. Not good. Like a snakes wedding inside the cavity. Not at all good for fender.

Sorry to be a pain, looking at the wiring diagram, there are 5 wires coming from each pickup.
Red
Black
White.
Green
Grey which I presume is the the Shield/Earth.
As that was broken off on one pickup, I wasn't getting an earth. I have had to add a piece of wire as it was a bit short.
I am now getting a buzzing when the volume and tone pots are in roughly the central position.
Could the size of wire cause this?

I'm no wiring guru, so proceed with caution.

You're right on the wires, the colored ones are the coil start/end wires and the bare is shield.
I wouldn't think wire thickness could cause that kind of a buzz symptom - I've seen perfectly working guitars wired with just about any wire thickness.

I'd rather suspect there's something in the cavity that touches something it shouldn't when you turn the pot(s).

The really weird part is if both pots need to be at about 5 for the buzz to occur...

Yes can't work that out myself. Have found another wire hanging on for grim death. Re soldered that one, a lot better but I suspect that there is another not playing ball.
Thanks for all the help
