Hi I recently started really wanting a tele especially the hollow body ones with the WR pickups...Some months ago squire discontinued the VM '72 thinline and now it only makes a new CV 70s thinline (I heard CV is generally higher quality than VM).My other choice is the MiM 72' classic. I can afford either and i like having the fender logo but does the MiM justify double the price?. i know for a fact that neither of them has actual WR pickups and the new squier has some pretty cool features like a bone nut 9.5'' radius the new tall-thin frets and a soft maple body (sounds interesting). Im used to playing Ibanezes and i will use the tele mainly for math rock midwest emo and gennerally alt rock stuff ,if it matters... (i live in the middle of nowhere so i cant test either)

Hi Geople, welcome to the forum.

It'd be difficult for me to answer your question about which guitar to buy. I have a Squire which I don't like that much but it is the only Squire I've ever played, I bought it second hand and it had been bashed about quite a bit by the original owner. I have three MIM Teles and I love all of them I bought them all brand new, I have a Classic 60s series a Classic 50s series and an FSR Tele Delux.

So in short I can't answer your question I'm a bit biased towards the MIM.

I have little doubt that both will be fine guitars. However, if you want a Fender you are going to want a Fender. Which ever way you look at it, in 10 years time, if you haven't bought a Fender you are still going to want a Fender.

I would be happier with the MiM as I know parts will be easy to get and will fit. The trouble with Squier is this may or may not be the case.

And, while it shouldn't be a thing, and you can claim inverse snob value, people will take you more seriously with a Fender hung around your neck compared to a cheap starter guitar. Badges shouldn't matter but, to an extent, they still do.
