This MIM tele is for sale in the area where I live. The seller bought it used and knows little about it other than the bridge pickup is a SD Hot stack. I am trying to determine if the neck is a modern C shape before I make the drive to see it and offer a price. Looks like a 2002-2003 model. Not sure if the saddles are original.

Thanks Stratele, Does that neck description mean modern c? Also, the seller is listing it as lake placid blue. Was that color available then?

Neck, I don't know more than ; Neck ; M,Mod,C-Shape, SPLY
IMO, M , Mod = modern

Color in 2002 and 2003 Fender Frontline
Lake Placid Blue is no 02 and there is no Lake Placid blue for this guitar in Fender Frontline.

1- Missing from Fender ?
2- Seller guess is a Lake Placid blue. Picture he show look not Lake Placid blue, more Sage Green Metalic as I see on Fender Frontline.

Color available for this Tele ;
06 black
19 Sage Green Metalic
29 Blue Agave
32 Brown sunburst
73 in 2002 no picture :(
75 Midnight wine
80 Artic white

Thanks for the quick reply. Something definitely isn't adding up with this guitar. The seller claims the neck and body are original and it hasn't been painted. He doesnt know the official name but says it's a light blue metallic.

That Blue Agave (29) could fit - to my eyes this guitar is bluer than greener.

The serial checks out as a MIM Standard Telecaster, but the guitar is not all-original; that bridge rail pickup for instance.
Both the body and the neck look OK for an early-millennium MIM Standard, though.

Check the serial number with Fender Consumer Relations, that could confirm the color.

Photo of a Sage Green Metalic body on my Fender Frontline is not greener too. I don't know where the word " Green" come from.

Blue Agave ? I don't know, it is not very far from the seller picture :?:

I spoke with Fender customer service and they believe it's a 1992 in blue agave with a regular c shape neck. They indicated the serial number look up only goes back to 1993 and that's why the system shows it as a 2002-2003. That being said their print article indicates it's a 2002-2003.

I'm probably going to pass on this one. The color is throwing up some red flags for me.

That's probably a wise decision - with MIM's there are always other candidates.

Color ID'ing can be real hard.
All colors on a computer screen (scanned or digipics) vary a lot - and colors on a 2003 paper copy Frontline might have changed, too.
Plus there is the small detail that many Fender colors (same name, same number) can be very different, depending on the build year/place, paint type, conditions and such.

But this one's been solved; it's the MysteryBlueGreen...
