I bought one of these back in July. It was Sonic Grey.

My band plays Petty's tune Mary Jane's Last Dance. During the main riff, I upstrum doing a hammer-on from a Dsus2 to a D. Every single time the high E would pop out. If it wasn't such a shame, it'd almost be funny.

Been playing 28 years. I own several multi-thousand dollar guitars and never had this issue before. Ended up sending it back. Usually I use Sweetwater, but they'd been sold out of them for a while. So I used Chicago Music Exchange. They took it back no questions asked.

I really did like this guitar, but if I'm dropping a couple grand on a guitar, I do expect that the strings to stay on it. Hopefully, they get this straighten out. I'd like to pick up another one some day, but I think I'll wait for version 2.0.

Just had an email from Fender promoting the new "Exotic Woods" version. £3000 and no string trees.

Hi All - this just happened to me too :(

Ordered the guitar in March... received in August (I'm in the UK and wanted the surf green one!) and play live about twice a week. Was great at first and then at the last two gigs the top e popped out a couple of times.

I contacted Fender in the UK and was told its not a known issue - they recommended cutting the groove in the nut a bit deeper but I'm loathed to do this as it plays so well at the moment. As such I'd really appreciate it if you could provide me with a bit more info on who you spoke to at Fender about getting the string trees provided/fitted so I can point Fender UK in the right direction. Thanks so much in advance!

I posted on here earlier that I got one of these back in July and sent it back due to the E string constantly popping out. I saw the new exotic woods which are beautiful and thought I'd give it another shot. I got it about 3 weeks ago. It is the ziricote. I have had absolutely no issues with the E string popping out on this one where on the last it happened all the time. I can only assume that they fixed whatever the issue was.

I wonder of they are using nuts with deeper cut slots? Perhaps if you could measure the height of your nut compared to an original version?

If you want a string tree installed on your Acoustasonic, take it to an authorized Fender dealer/repair shop and they will install it free.
