Hey all, just ordered my 011-1260-375 yesterday. Highway One, midnight wine, rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets Telecaster. I tried a Search only to come up with a frustrating 2000 plus matches. So I wanted to know what body care/maintenance is recommended for that kind of body finish. And if not really recommended well what you use instead. If you use anything at all. I just love the Highway One look and would like that guitar to age naturally.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Claude.

Hello Claude Gallichand,

Best of luck with your new tele.

I use a non silicone car wax
on my '62 hotrod.

Cheers.

Claude,
Good question as I'm in the same boat with a 3 color burst. I've just been wiping it down after I'm done grubbing all over it. I've been kind of chicken when it comes to putting anything on it. With the matt finish I don't think I'd wax it. Let's hope someone more knolageable chimes in. Peace. J.J.B.

Not to say that Mr. Bill is not knolageable  Is the finish on your 62' the same as the Hwy 1's?. Peace. J.J.B.

I recently purchased a 2007 highway one in flat black, the finish wear off pretty quickly. You can see where i'm playing the most because it's becoming shiny. But i don't really care, maybe with years it will become an orignal relic 8)

But can you remove that shine?

Hello Jackbart1960,

The '62 hot rod has a nitro finish
is not the most durable finish,
but they did paint cars with it.

A local '59corvette owner told
me to stay away from silicone.

That's how I made my decision to use it.

Cheers.

Well Jaqueline, I think the idea behind that kind of finish is to show traces of wear faster than with traditionnal finish. Instead of wear I should say traces of use and abuse. Your guitar shows the way you play it. Rubbed spots become shiny spots, customizing your guitar while you play. Anyway, with that post, I wanted to hear about the different ways people take care of their Highway One Strats or Teles.

Thanks Mr Bill, Jackbart1960 and Jaqueline. All ideas are welcomed.

Cheers.

Use Paste wax it adds a nice protective shine. I only use pure carnuba wax (and it doesn't matter if its furniture wax or car wax) I avoid the cleaner waxes and other chemical crap.
