Purchased a MiM Telecaster SN MN 422577.
The Shop sold it as a MiM Tele Standard 1994-95. Which the SN Denotes it as but not a Standard.
The SN classifies it as a Special a precursor to the Tex Mex which was produced around 1996.
Some Pictures https://imgur.com/a/klXZRYf

It has a Humbucker at the neck and Single Coil at the bridge. It also has a 5 way switch for coil tapping.

Any help appreciated

Also in need of new saddle barrels, all the Allen screws are munched up. The Allen Key size for the saddle screws is 1.5mm, which saddle screws should I get.
I have just replaced the Saddle Screws on my MiM Strat for shorter ones and find that the Allen Key that came with them is 2 mm
I am confused and in the UK.

You could check the serial number with Fender Consumer Relations (via support pages, email form or the wonderful chat service, or the US toll free phone number).
But on a quick glance, it looks to be this one:
Quote:

If the saddle screws are adjusted with a 1,5mm key, the best guess is they are M3 metric screws.
Edit: Fender saddle keys are usually .050" (imperial, = 1,27 mm) or 1,5mm (metric). Can't remember a 2mm, so could that Strat have some aftermarket saddles..?

Wow thanks for that, the saddle screws seem to be a bit of a problem getting in the UK. Everyone wants to sell the Whole Vintage Bridge Money.

Thanks again

On a quick googling:
https://www.axecaster.co.uk/index.php?m ... pnprb57874
https://www.allparts.uk.com/collections ... t%20screws

Or, make a visit to a local guitar tech/luthier shop. They usually have a zillion different screws in supply, and might be willing to sell you a few.

The 6 saddle vintage bridge on your Tele may be the same as the pre-2016 Deluxe Nashville which afaik has #4-40 screws, 4 short and 8 long ,Fender part numbers 0040807000 and 0040806000.
The bridge generally is not highly regarded and my suggestion would be to replace it with a compensated 3 saddle bridge. The Sung-Il "Wilkinson" is good value.

Hmm, wait a minute...
The metric screw size M3 I gave was a guess, based on your info on the 1,5mm metric hex key.
If 64Galaxie is right about the "Nashville" bridge, it should AFAIK use a .050" imperial hex key, and then the threading would also be imperial; 4-40 I think.
The Tele Special service diagram from 1998 shows the "Nashville" bridge (with 6+6 screws), but that doesn't give an absolute guarantee that it would have been the same on 1994-1997 models. (And there's even a chance some previous owner forced M3 screws on 4-40 holes…)

All in all, be careful putting in the new M3's.

Thanks All.
Ordered new barrel saddle hight adjusting screws.
They came with a 2mm Allen key M3 size.
The Allen Key that fits mine is 1.5mm.
The M3 Allen Screws to large to my saddles.

I'm getting really confused…

From the axecaster M3 screws product page: "These fit the saddles on all our current stock of bridges/tremolos with hex head screws. 1.5mm hex/allen wrench required."

And as I said before, I've never (yet) met a Fender saddle height adjusting screw which would use a 2mm hex key.

One option: the current screws actually need a 1/16" (= 1,5875mm) hex key - that would be usable with a 1.5mm key. Then my guess for the threads would be the already mentioned 4-40 (which is just a bit smaller than the M3).

Best ways to proceed, IMHO:
Get a metric & imperial thread gauge, check the thread and go from there.
Another option is to test the current screws with different size nuts in a large selection hardware store.
Or rethread to the M3.
Or get new saddles, with screws.
Or a new bridge.
Or use a pro.

Maybe try some 4-40 screws from Allparts? You can return the metric ones within 14 days under the consumer contract regulations.

#4 size, 40 threads per inch pitch.
Very common small machine screw sizes... 2-56 is generally the smallest commonly used, 4-40, then 6-32, 8-32, etc...
