I'm a string though the body guy. No reason other than that's the way Leo designed it and I think it looks better than having the ball end of the strings showing at the bridge.

hello miamimike and all i am reading this thread with the same question in mind. I have only had experience with a tele top loader (mij around 89') . also since I have never had experience with loading the strings on a tele from the back what problems are caused by those string ferrules? Do the fall out when you take the strings off? Do they pop off? :?:

I've had no problems with the string ferrules, but I think that some will argue the fact that string-thru-body Teles have more sustain? I happen to think that myself.

I had a hardtail Tele with a bigsby added. I also have a Squier thinline. they are ok, but a tele is a tele and that means a string through body. It is one of the reasons teles sound like they do. The whole body is in play. Leo had it right with those six little holes. Same with a Strat. String through...

Mine have all been string through.
I am not sure if it adds to the sustain, but that tis the common statement.
Still love my Tele either way.
What about the Hardtail Strats??
Same idea I'm sure.
