Greetings

Just got my Jimmy Page Mirror Telecaster and love it particularly the neck. I am thinking of getting another Telecaster with the oval neck without duplicating buying another one, and setting that one up with 11's for more slide work. I generally use another guitar for slide, and will set the Jimmy Page up with 9's or 10's.

Any suggestions for other Telecasters with oval c necks.

By the way, this is one of the best Teles I have ever played. Amazing guitar, Fender hit this one out of the park. I guess I could buy the Mexican dragon Tele and set that one for slide. I am not sure that the oval c neck on Page's Tele (59) would be the same as the 60's oval.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Never heard of an "Oval C".

Here is the description of the neck on the Jimmy Page Tele:
Quote:
Classic Thin D neck with a vintage fingerboard radius

If you're a guitarist who prefers a thin '60s neck profile with a little more meat, the Jimmy Page Tele's Thin D shape is your cup of tea. In 1959, Fender started doing rosewood fingerboards on Telecasters, and that's what this one has, along with a comfortable vintage-spec 7.25" radius. Fingerboard designs have flattened out over the decades, the theory being that flatter radii are better for soloing in the high register. The fact remains that Mr. Page was a prodigious soloist on his Tele (after all, he played the epic "Stairway to Heaven" solo on it). And that's all we have to say about that.

Fender also says
Quote:
We duplicated the exact neck profile from Page's Telecaster-the one that's been worn by decades of playing, and capped it with a period-correct slab fingerboard.
So it may be hard to find a similar neck profile on any other Fender, or even among aftermarket necks.
And I'd say chances for the JP-Mirror-Tele neck appearing on the FMIC spare parts list are very slim.
(The neck is described as Jimmy Page Custom Thin "D" on thomann's webages...)

But stratosphereparts.com sometimes surprises by having all kinds of recent model parts on their lists. Their web page design logic for searching stuff is hellish, though.

BTW, on the quote White Dog posted: it may very well be that most of my favorite lead guitar parts/solos have been played with 7.25" radii. And come to think of it, is the JP Mirror Tele the only current MIA with 7.25"..?

"Oval C" is a real thing. The Custom Shop uses that phrase (as does USACG) to describe the typical '60s Fender profile. ("Modern C" is sometimes called a "flat oval" profile.)

But neck shapes are hard to describe with words. And different people/sources often describe the same shape differently.
