Does anyone know if Fender locking tuners drop into the holes of a Modern Player Stratocaster without widening the holes or drilling screw holes?

They may or may not fit the shaft holes.
The Fender US and MiM tuners lock into position in the neck with two pins on the bottom on the shaft side. Those holes will need to be patterned and drilled into your MP neck. You will have exposed holes at the ends.

I would not bother having recently drilled a neck for locking tuners.
Even with a template it is tricky to align the pins.
There are vintage style locking tuners in both modern and vintage shaft styles.
Make sure you get the right diameter for the shaft hole of your guitar :D

Yep.
It took a small amount of "liquid confidence" before I drilled my Taylor.
And I missed one hole.
I should have coughed up the bucks for a template block.

Agree 100% with the get tuners that fit with minimum alterations suggestion.
Tuner upgrade is a common mod, but when woodwork is included, it requires a lot of accuracy.

The Modern Player Teles (Thinline and Plus) have "KEYS RM 1248N-R6 STRAT SET", part number 0074936000 (or 007-4936-000), and I'm guessing the Strat has the same (no service diagram available).
The dimensions according to angela.com are:
Quote:
.359" diameter on the splined portion of the headstock bushing,
.434" diameter upper lip that sits on the face of the headstock,
.3035" overall bushing height.
Tuner shaft measured .239" diameter,
overall length 1.025"
To me, coming from a metric background, (like the original tuners most likely…) those imperial digital caliper based dimensions are a bit funny.
But you could check those with your original tuners and confirm/deny the result here - it may help someone else later on.

Same part number as Squier Classic Vibe tuners which are vintage style.
Lot of work would be required to fit the modern Fender locking ones.
Gotoh SD91MG-T may fit.
