Mine's a brand new 70's Stratocaster reissue and if it get's dinged or scratched the least I'm pissed & boiling. I just bought it, in perfect shape. Now my last 70s Strat (not reissue) bought back in the 70s I owned 3 full years and not a scratch on it. But the tremelo bar stripped on me and it kept turning & turning. That's the only thing that happened to that one. If it's not one thing, it's another. Now you take my buddy who owns a Stratocaster. It was kept perfect with not one ding or scratch. One night he let a guy try out his Strat. A few days later he notices these scratches right above the pickguard on the body of the guitar. Then he came to remember the guy that played it had a bracelet on. This is how his got scratched. Just remember 3 things when you don't want to scratch your guitar. Take your watch off, wear a t-shirt without any buttons and take off the belt off or turn it to the side. Make sure that the t- shirt hangs over the button on your pants. Always remember these.

Now when I buy a new guitar I want to keep it a new guitar. I don't want a ding or even the slightest scratch in it. Especially for the first year at the least. If it happens say 5-10 yrs. down the road then that may be a little different. Not like you buy a perfect brand new guitar and then 3 days later it's dinged or chipped up. Those vintage guitars that go for 30.000.00 on E-Bay that they sell which are vintage Strats that look like crap don't impress me either. Just because it's shot looking and banged & dinged to pieces some people call it cool and sell it for 30,000.00. To me that don't mean a hoot. I'd rather have a nice brand new one. That relic crap doesn't impress me either.
