Just picked up one of these used. Quite battered for only being a little over a year old. Original user toured with it.

Couldn't find really any info on the boards for these. Does anyone play these??

Anyways, I'm curious if there is any recommendations for these like a better bridges - 3 saddle? 6 saddle?

Any other tweaks as well?

Thnx!

Another thing - I notice the Fender decal on the head stock can very easily be scratched off. Could this be a mistake from the factory, or is this part of the added vintage because Fender decals in the 1950's were put on top of the lacquer.

Any ideas? Any fellow Hot Rod players have the same issue?

I know someone that has one, but haven't seen him or it in awhile, so can't really answer your question, but I can say that tonally, the bridge pup is classic Tele (no surprise there), but I was surprised by the mini-bucker.
The mini-bucker provides very good clarity, but also some nice "roundness" at the same time. Of course it does not sound like the classic Tele neck single-coil, but at the same time...I didn't find myself missing that as I heard it being played. Oddly enough, to my ears, both pups combined actually almost had a more full sound than the mini-bucker alone.

I'm thinking of replacing the bridge to a 6-saddle one. I hear the intonation is alot easier to achieve.

My guitar is in the shop getting a full setup atm(I get all new guitars professionaly setup right away) I am also debating to replace the bridge pup with a SD - but not sure which one. I'm also getting the toggle switch and volumes switched around. I rely heavily on my volume for the amount of gain I need, and prefer them close by.

This tele is going to be one bad 'mutha when I'm thru with her.

It sounds like you have a plan. Best wishes with it!

Hello Foofyter,

I own a hot rod Strat {my#1 now}

The decal may be more fragile
than other models

So I
Resist the urge to scratch.

Seriously in another thread this
was discussed and it turn out
Fender will supply a decal
if yours is destroyed

It's a somewhat complicated process
Hit the radio button SUPPORT above
go to the FAQ button and
question 9 {I believe}
will relieve your tension.

Cheers.

I just got a new one last week. I ordered it and it took 5 weeks to get it. I could not be happier. The middle position is a voice you do not hear anywhere. Great job Fender and thank you very much.
