I had no plans to buy or trade for any more Fenders this year until I had the chance to play this American Original 60s Tele in June. Oops.

Okay, that's all for this year. Famous last words. Say hello to my little Vintage White American Performer Hum friend that I met last week.

They're two terrific, very different Telecasters.

Oh, and I should be safe for the rest of the year. Only 11 days left... :)

Both are sweet, with the latter having a more serious "attitude" because of the DoubleTap™ humbucker in the neck.

You can obtain single-coil tones with the push-pull pot in the master greasebucket control knob.

Yep, the new American Performer Tele has plenty of attitude. The bridge pickup is extra hot and full of treble and the neck humbucker sounds right to me. It's not too bright and not too dark and it splits better (without a noticeable drop in volume) than any Fender humbucker I have had.

It's an extremely versatile Telecaster and it barely edged out the SSS Strat. If the Strat I played had been Honeyburst instead of Penny it would have been an even tougher choice but I'm very happy with this Telecaster.

The white pickguard really brings out the vintage white finish. Before smoking was
banned in most bars, clubs and lounges that finish would take on a yellowish hue
after several years of being exposed to those places.

If smoking caused the yellowish hew to a hardened guitar finish, imagine what your lungs must look like.

It's hot because of the new AlNiCo IV magnets it employs.

It really did play hell with furniture, walls, and everything else it permeated.
OTOH, the body is self-cleaning and self-repairing to a certain extent... that's why smokers cough so much.
Former 2-pack/day here, quit in 2012, still occasionally enjoy a pipe.

There are folks who like the Vintage White finish with a rosewood fingerboard while others prefer Satin Surf Green with a maple neck. It's an easy mod since the necks are interchangeable.

Thanks. It had been two years since I bought my last MIA Fender, an American Standard Surf Green Rosewood Neck Tele so the time was right. Traded a Gibson ES-335 I wasn't playing for the American Original 60s Tele and a PRS S2 Standard and a Mustang 90 for the American Performer so it didn't hurt a bit and I ended up with one less guitar. I can live with that. :)

Thanks!

It's funny, just when I think I have enough Teles, here comes another one and then another one I want.
